However, Alli’s campaign organisation has rejected insinuations of any inappropriate or sexual conduct. The campaign explained that the young man was a student of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, who was part of a group that visited Alli to seek support for a programme and conduct an interview.
According to the campaign, the venue became crowded and there were not enough seats, prompting Alli to invite one of the students to sit on his lap so the interview could continue. It described the gesture as spontaneous and fatherly and urged the public to consider the full context of the footage.
